The s'more seems to be a contraction of the phrase "some more." But the treat is so sticky, when you ask for another, you can't help but say "s'more."
There is great debate as to who invented the s'more. But there is no debate the camp fire treat is popular. In fact, there is even a day dedicated to s'mores. August 10th is National S'mores day.
According to the website S'more History and Stories, the first recorded version of the recipe can be found in the 1927 edition of the girl scout handbook.
The actual origin of the s'more is unknown.
