More and more Wichita intersections are using brick pavers instead of cement. Why the extra cost? The Wichita Public Works Department said that the bricks actually cut down on maintenance, which is less expensive in the long-run.
Most importantly, the bricks are an added safety measure. They alert drivers that they are in an intersection, wich crosswalks, and to be aware that there may be people in the street.
Also, it just looks nicer.
