Habitat for Humanity builds a number of houses every year for families who are struggling financially.

Yesterday, another one of the constructions began...

But this site, looked a bit different than most...

The entire property was covered in pink...

No not from the color of paint selected for the house...

But it was the color of shirts worn by all volunteers...

The reason?

They were all women.

These women may look pretty in pink, but that doesn't mean they can't handle a power tool.

"It's really going to be a nice house, built by woman."

So why are there so many females with hammers in hand?

To kick off the ninth annual habitat for humanity women build.

"It's a real bonding experience to work side by side with other women, and it really empowers you to pick up a hammer and to learn what you can do," said Wichita Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Ann Fox.

While there are a few men around to coach and teach pointers, it's the women doing all the hard labor.

"We'll be running all the power tools, thank you."

They've all come together to help Elena Knoblauch reach a dream.

"I know my house gonna be stronger because built by woman," future homeowner Elena Knoblauch said.

Elena and her two children, Sophia and Ian, have been struggling financially after going through a divorce and bankruptcy.

"Their primary problem was moving from place to place trying to find an affordable home."

"I never had a permenant house, so, and I move a lot so I don't see my friends a lot, and I'm hoping I make a lot of friends here," said future home occupant Ian Knoblauch.

But today, construction began on a place that the family will finally be able to call home.

""So there a door will open and we'll walk right into a bedroom."

"It's going to be three bedroom, so one bedroom for each of my kids and mine, and then it's going to have a nice kitchen, and a car port, and it's going to be cute," Knoblauch said.

A home, that they'll get to put their own personal touch on...

Where all this pink, might be leaving a mark.

"What color, Phia, your room going to be? Pink."

Elena and her family should be able to move into their new home by the beginning of October...

But before that can happen, construction needs to finish, and that's where they need your help.

Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers.
