This is National School Bus Safety Week. And part of the campaign claims buses are far safer for your children than a ride with parents.
The group Safe Kids Kansas claims children are more than 20 times safer aboard school buses, than if they ride to school with parents. That's based on crashes leads to injuries and deaths.
Safe Kids Kansas adds teenagers are 50 times safer on buses, as opposed to driving to school themselves.
More children are hurt getting on or off a school bus, than riding inside one. So it's important to stop when a bus's red signal lights are flashing. If you pass a bus at that time, you're breaking the law.
Parents also are urged to teach children *not* to text or talk on the phone while crossing streets.
