Money Matters: Women as Investors

Stay up-to-date with KAKE News:

Investing can be a little scary for a lot of people. You want to put money away for retirement.

Many times people invest in the stock market, but that can be a daunting task, especially for women. A survey by learnvest.com found six out of ten women are stressed about their finances. But the majority of women want to take control of their finances and invest wisely. 87% say they would love to talk to a financial advisor. Sam Seiden of the Online Trading Academy says there are a number of reasons why women may be better family investors.

"What women don't realize is that they are naturally better at handling family finances, they're naturally better at investing, even at active trading," says Seiden.

"Their big 'aha' moment is when they realize that how you make money buy and selling anything in life is exactly how you make money buying and selling in the financial markets when it comes to investing and trading and all that. Women are better shoppers. Women are better planners. Women have more discipline," he says.

One thing Sieiden says needs to be done first is to pay down or pay off credit card debt, then you can start investing for the future.
