Get a little extra change out if you are planning to travel the turnpike today.
Tolls increase about 10% for cars paying with cash, but only 5% for K-Tag users and large commercial vehicles.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority says that the hike is needed to cover upcoming bridge repairs that will need to be made in the next ten years.
There are about 345 bridges along the turnpike, all of which were built around the same time, so improvements to bridge decks are approaching.
The increase is part of KTA's overall financial plan which has small increases scheduled every three years to cover these types of expenses.
