Authorities say arson was behind a Thursday house fire in east Wichita, which resulted in two minor injuries.
Crews were called around 4:25 a.m. to a triplex at 6233 East Eilarts, near Kellogg and Woodlawn. Initial reports indicated someone might be trapped inside. But authorities revealed later a 13-year-old girl started the fire in a basement, then ran away with her boyfriend. The girl's grandmother reportedly lives in the building.
A battalion chief told KAKE's Jordan Shefte two people were treated for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters were able to keep damage at the brick building to a minimum.
