At Least 14 People Killed In Theater Shooting

At least 14 people are dead this morning after a gunman opened fire in a crowded theater at a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado.

The FBI is saying that they believe there is nothing to link the suspect to any terrorist organizations. They believe he was acting alone.

Local media are reporting that he is a 24 year old man.

He is in custody this morning. At least one gun has been recovered from the scene.

Witnesses say he had at least three guns on him, was wearing some kind of body armor, and a riot helmet.

This all started at about 12:30 local time.

Witnesses also say that he broke into a back emergency exit to the theater, threw some kind of canister that released some gas or smoke, then opened fire.

An explosive devise was also found in the theater. police are unsure whether it was planted in the theater or if it was thrown into the crowd.

Once he was taken into custody, he made statements to the effect that there explosives in his apartment as well.

ABC News is reporting that explosives were indeed found in his apartment.

14 people are confirmed dead.

The youngest person hurt in the shooting was a six month old child. At least 50 other people were injured in the shooting and ensuing chaos.
