Today on money matters, a lot of people are looking for part time work right now either because they've lost a job or they want to supplement their income in case they are laid off. Here are some ideas from a couple of writers for businessweek.

eBay Seller. A lot of people are getting into the e-bay sales craze these days. Hitting the garage sales on the weekends and selling the stuff for a profit. Expect to spend several hours a week. Average sales are $22,000 a year.

Web Designer. If you're adept at coding and have an eye for sharp design you may be able to make a business making web sites.
Start with friends until you can build a portfolio. average Sales are $42,000 a year.

Jewelry Designer. About half of all jewelry makers in the u-s are self employed. you'll probably spend $500 to $2,000 dollars for materials but average sales are $30,000 a year working nights and weekends.

T-Shirt Vendor. Bert and John Jacobs started selling Life Is Good shirts at street fairs and out of the back of a van. Today it's a $100 million dollar a year business. you can use a third party designer like T-Shirt Monster or buy you own transfer press. But that may set you back $500 to $1,000. There's a lot of competition but average sales are $48,000 a year for those who work hard.

Those are just a few businesses. There are many more. Just remember part time can wind up taking up a lot of time.
