The man police wanted in connection with an early Thursday morning shooting was arrested after a brief chase with police Friday night.

Wichita Police Sgt. Bruce Watts said officers spotted the 35-year-old suspect while conducting surveillance in the 800 block of South Drury, which is in a neighborhood northeast of Lincoln and Woodlawn.

Watts said the man had returned to the area where a shooting was reported about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Police said the suspect had been pistol-whipping a 29-year-old man when it fired, shooting the victim in the shoulder. That man was treated at Wesley Medical Center and released.

The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated battery and evading and eluding police. Watts said the man was also found with methamphetamines and already had a warrant out for his arrest.
