Willie Wactor
Hatteberg's People
Reporter: Larry Hatteberg
November 19, 2006--Willie Wactor is like smoke under a door. All of a sudden his music surrounds you and for Jazz lovers, that’s exactly how they like it.
Willie Wactor could be playing anywhere. East coast, West coast, any jazz scene anywhere in the nation. |

|
Instead, he chooses to live in Wichita.
“I truly do feel that if you are talented enough and gifted enough you can make your mark anywhere in the United
States.”
Already out with two highly produced CDs under his own record label, this quiet 31 year old brings to mind jazz
names such as Charlie Parker and John Coltrane.
“When you hear my music you are getting a piece of me and you are getting a piece of my soul.” |
“This is my kind of life, it’s laid back, I can focus here.”
“That’s the most important thing I want my music to have is to be able to touch somebody and that’s why I feel I
must record it because then it can touch somebody, even after I am gone.” |
 |
“I’m always creating, every single time I play.”
He speaks through his music, his fingers hitting the keys in pursuit of
‘mellow’. Often his group plays at Border’s Books and Music on Rock Road and in Kansas City.
“I know I’m definitely on the right track and I’m definitely a very happy person.”
|
 |
“God has truly blessed me and I feel his blessing every day.”
“It’s a never ending story; it changes every time I play.”
“Every day is a learning experience.”
Larry’s Note: Willie will be coming out with his third album in the Summer of 2007. For bookings, you may call
