January 8, 2006--Meet Rolly Williams of Anthony. He is a talented singer where you least expect to find one.
“I’m just a normal person. There is nothing special about me.”
Singing: “So Hush little baby don’t you cry.”
It is an unlikely place for a concert. |
The Smokehouse Restaurant in Anthony, Kansas.
Rolly Williams is dishwasher, busboy, and singer.
Song: “There is a shadow hanging over me. Yesterday came suddenly.”
Among the pizza buffet, and the salad -- is Rollie’s stage.
Song: “I don’t know she wouldn’t say.” |

“I don’t know, I’d like be employed singing full time, that’s my dream right now.”
Song: “She got the moon in her eyes.” (Clapping) “Thank you!”
“People are real friendly. Everybody knows me because I sing all over the place.” |
Song: “Oh Brother can you spare a dime?”
“That’s a short one.”
“Good job Rolly.”
“Thank you.”
He’s lived in several places including California, but calls Anthony home.
“The hardest thing is singing in front of farmers who look like they don’t want to hear you.” |
Song: “Shadows on the hill, sketch the trees and daffodil’s.”
Woman: “What a wonderful voice. He gets his music inspiration from within himself.”
Second Woman: “And he has a very God-given talent.” |

He is a man of little means. The past few years have not been kind. Heart bypass surgery took its toll. That’s why he sometimes sits too sing.
On his meager income, he still manages to give much of it to missions at his church. |
| “If you can do anything good on this earth, do it for the poor. I’ll never be rich doing what I’m doing here. And it’s questionable what good I’m doing, but if I can do that little bit to help Missionaries and people that are poor, then you are doing something.” |
