September 18, 2005--Paul Fogle of rural Rose Hill, is far removed from the damage brought on by Hurricane Katrina. But he can’t get those television images out of his mind. But he just couldn’t sit there and watch. Paul was moved to action.
“Basically seeing all the devastation, and the fact that people got out with just the clothes on their backs. It just made me sick.”

That’s why Paul Fogle is fixing this half-century old army truck. A truck he bought last week with his own money.

“I could hardly eat, I was trying to think…what can I do? I wanted to try and make a difference in a way nobody else thought about.”

“If somebody down there had this truck, and a load of hand tools, brooms and rakes and shovels and gloves. They could at least get back to work cleaning up part of the mess.”

And that’s where this 1952 GMC 2 and half ton old Army truck now has a new mission. A truck he will now give to folks on the Gulf Coast.

“Yes, I’m going to give this truck away. I discovered after checking things out that it was doable. And I’m making really good progress on it. I’ve rewired it, put new fuses in. I’m trying to get to the shape that whoever gets it won’t have to do anything to it. They can just jump in it and put it to work immediately.
With images of the disaster spurring him on….Paul hopes to fill the back of this truck with tools and other items that will help with the cleanup.

“I don’t want to take any empty truck down. If I’m going to go down…then it might as well go full.”
“I don’t focus on the ‘whole’ project. I just focus on one thing at a time and get that done.”

One man….one mission….one goal…to simply help.

“My folks raised me to help you neighbor when you can.”

And Paul Fogle is doing just that ---- This Viet Nam War Veteran believes that helping other Americans is a job that begins right in his driveway.

Paul is planning to leave next Thursday for the Gulf and here are some of the things he’d like to haul down in the back of his 50 year old truck:
Shovels, Rakes, Brooms, Gloves Wheelbarrows and Chainsaws.

Here are a couple of drop-off places --- Little Pal’s Day Care Center in Wichita at 2739 N. Hillside or at his home at Rose Hill Road and 160th street. He says just look for the big blue truck on the corner.
