August 28, 2005--A Galva, Kansas man is selling it all, his entire collection of tractors and we’re not talking about toys. Jim Warren’s huge International Harvester tractor collection numbers almost a hundred, and all will go to auction.
“We’re all about seven or eight hundred people here. We’re all pretty friendly.”

In the quiet farm community of Galva, Kansas, Jim Warren is a local legend. A banker and collector of farm equipment – Warren decided to sell it all at a gigantic farm sale.

“I think that it is probably one of the largest International Harvester collections in the state in that they all run.”

Warren has been collecting for a couple of decades. He said his children weren’t really interested and it was taking up space so 90 International Harvesters tractors, all in running condition plus scores of ‘collector’ farm equipment hit the sale block.
“So many of those items I bought at auction just to keep them from going to the scrap pile. Just to preserve particularly the International Harvester history.”

“Well, I just hope all the buyers have the same feeling I do and that is to take care of the equipment and preserve it for years to come.

It’s an impressive amount of farm equipment --- tractors, plows, you name it, he’s got it --- and this quiet main street in Galva on Sale day will be lined with everything he’s got.

“They’ll be 45 of them on either side of the street. And we’ll close the street and have the auction right there.”
“I guess I just grew up with them. They are so dependable and they all have their own personality. Every one of them is different. There are some of them I’m really going to miss. I like some of them better than others and I’ve worked on some of them pretty hard, but I think it’s time to let them go.”

“It’s time to go.”

Jim Warren’s big auction will take place September 16th & 17th on the main street of Galva, Kansas near McPherson. For more information, you may contact the auction company at www.carrauction.com or call toll free at 1-800-503-2277.
