Goddard Donates Car to Macksville

6-4-07 - The city of Goddard donated a 2001 Crown Victoria police vehicle Monday to the city of Macksville to replace the one lost in the May 4th tornado. Officer Tim Buckman was storm-spotting on May 4th when he was killed by the tornado and the department's only patrol car was destroyed.

Macksville has two officers on their police staff and one patrol car. The tragedy cut their police force in half and they have been using a loaner vehicle ever since.

The city of Goddard had discussed retiring the vehicle but first contacted Greensburg to see if they might need a car in wake of the damage left by the tornado. Greensburg then told them about Macksville and Buckman's tragedy.

The mayors and police chiefs of both cities were on hand at the Goddard City Offices as the key and title were handed over.
