WICHITA, Kan. — A Wichita man is hospitalized after being shot in the face during a home break-in late last night.

Police say a 34-year-old man was asleep at his home in the 2200 block of North Piatt when someone broke in around 11 p.m. Tuesday. The 34-year-old woke up to see the suspect standing over him, before being shot in the face.

According to police, the victim was able to get his nine-year-old son, who was sleeping in another bedroom, and drive to the hospital. He's currently hospitalized and his son is in police protective custody.
