SALINA, Kan. — A Salina school was briefly placed on heightened security following a nearby domestic violence call.
Around 9 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Crescent Drive for the report of domestic violence with possible shots fired. When they arrived, they found a 61-year-old woman outside the home. She was bleeding from the face and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Officers entered the home, but were unable to locate the suspect. They also didn't find any guns or evidence that one had been fired.
As a precaution, nearby Schilling Elementary was placed on heightened security while police continued to search for the suspect.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the suspect was found sleeping under a dump truck near the intersection of Derby and Foxboro. Christopher Walters, 52, was arrested for aggravated battery and criminal threat.
The woman is being treated for facial fractures and a brain bleed.
