Police arrest man on roof of Kansas City middle school

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A man is in custody after he was found hiding on the roof of a Kansas City middle school Monday morning.

According to KMBC, the man was spotted hiding behind an air conditioning unit of Eastgate Middle School. Staff placed the school on lockdown while officers climbed a fire truck ladder to the roof.

Police said the man had a shirt pulled over his face, and officers had to use a Taser to subdue him. The man was arrested and is expected to face trespassing and property damage charges.

Officers told KMBC that the suspect is a man in his 30s from Kansas City who accessed the roof from a utility pole. Investigators are trying to determine what type of damage was done to the school's air conditioner.

School was dismissed for the day following the incident.
