LIBERAL, Kan. -- The Liberal Police Department says three people are now in custody following a shooting Friday morning.
Capt. Patrick McClurg said 17-year-old Emmanuel Goytia and a 15-year-old boy were arrested this afternoon in Plains, which is northeast of Liberal.
The Meade County Sheriff's Department, Seward County Sheriff's Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisted in the case.
Police in southwest Kansas are searching for a teen accused of injuring two people in a shooting early Friday morning.
The shooting happened around 2:10 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of West Walnut in Liberal. Capt. Patrick McClurg said two teens confronted a 24-year-old man at his home. The man allegedly began to struggle with one of the suspects and was shot.
He was taken to a local hospital and then to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with serious injuries. A 17-year-old girl was also hospitalized with minor injuries sustained in the shooting. Their names have not been released.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection to the shooting, but police are still searching for 17-year-old Emmanuel Goytia. He is described as 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, has black hair, brown eyes and a mole on his left cheek near the jawline.
McClurg said evidence recovered at the scene indicates the shooting was drug related.
