WICHITA, Kan. — A suspect reportedly armed with swords is in custody after a phone was stolen from a Wichita store.

It happened around 2 p.m. Sunday when police say a man tried to bring two swords into a Chit Chat Wireless store in the 2000 block of South Seneca. An employee asked the man not to bring the swords inside the store, so he left them outside. Employees told officers that when he came back in, he stole a phone.

Police later found him walking in the 1900 block of South Exposition. The suspect still had a sword in his hand when he began walking toward the officer. The officer ordered him to drop it, and he complied.

Police arrested the 55-year-old man, and he was booked for felony theft and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. No one was hurt.
