In this week's Crimetracker, Wichita police are warning residents not to leave their lawn mowers outside. They say it could be gone in a matter of minutes.
Thanks to the warm spring, police say there have already been 123 reports of lawn equipment stolen, including lawn mowers. It is happening all across Wichita.
Someone running inside for a quick drink or lunch often leaves his lawn equipment outside unattended. The most frequently stolen items are weed eaters and push mowers.
Police remind everyone to keep garage door down, even while in the back yard. If going inside, even just a minute, make sure to put all lawn equipment away. It's also a good idea to record serial numbers to aid in recovering stolen equipment.
