In this week’s Crimetracker, we have updates to some of our recent features.
In just five days, thieves stole 21 motorcycles in Wichita – everything from Harleys to sport bikes. Police say summertime is always peak time for motorcycle thieves. But since our story aired, police arrested several people in connection with the thefts and have recovered several stolen bikes.
Also, two weeks ago, we told you about a crime trend near Wichita State campus. Someone was breaking into cars at a student apartment building. Since our story aired, investigators say the crimes have stopped. Thanks to better lighting in the parking lot and to good communication with campus police who are now making themselves more visible.
For an update on the case of the suspected tire slasher, Lisa Marie Milton entered a plea of not guilty to charges of slashing tires in southeast Wichita and threatening two people with a knife. She waived her right to preliminary hearing. Police had investigated nearly 100 cases of tires being slashed this summer. Milton’s trial is set for Dec. 12.
