Bel Aire forgery case may have ties to federal mail theft case

Wichita, Kan. -- Acting on a tip, police arrested two people for using checks taken from a purse in a car parked in a Bel Aire home's garage.

One of those arrested is 23 year old Ryen Detwiler who pled guilty to six counts of forgery.

Law enforcement sources tell KAKE News Detwiler is a person of interest in the theft of mail from 150 people living in east Wichita.

The case is being turned over to federal authorities.
