Three years ago on January 21, 2008, the Salina Police Department responded to 1200 E. Iron, to check the welfare of the only occupant of the residence, Beverly Logan.
The officers found the front door ajar and Ms. Logan deceased in the kitchen. It was apparent to the investigating officers she was the victim of a brutal attack. This homicide occurred around noon, on a Monday, next door to a heavily patronized convenience store on a major arterial street.
Logan's sisters Maxine Rogers and Janetta Smith want her murder solved. They say without an arrest and conviction in this case they can't have peace. They along with police are asking the killer or anyone with information to come forward. "Please come forward. Please help us get this closure," said Rogers.
A composite photo of a "person of interest" in the case was released several days after the murder. The person in the photo still has not been identified.
The man in the composite was last seen standing on the south east corner of Connecticut and Iron at about 1:00 in the afternoon on Monday January 21st. He is described as a black male, approximately 25-35 years of age, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches in height, approximately 175 pounds in weight, wearing a black or dark gray hooded shirt or sweatshirt with a black coat over it, wearing dark pants or sweatpants.
Police also say that a couple of dolls may have been stolen. Investigation revealed there may have been two Ashton-Drake Galleries life like porcelain dolls taken during this crime. The dolls are approximately 10" tall and have "real touch" vinyl skin.
