Vandals caused thousands of dollars in damage by stealing and dumping headstones from a Wichita cemetery. Now police need your help finding those responsible for the crime.

On Feb. 20, 2012, a Sedgwick County Sheriffs deputy found six headstones in a roadway ditch in the 5200 block of West 87th Street South. The headstones are very old, ranging from 1867 to 1907.

Investigators have confirmed that the headstones were stolen from Highland Cemetery at 1000 N. Hillside St. Damage is estimated at more than $5,000.

Anyone with information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 267-2111. You can also submit a tip by texting TIP217, then your message to CRIMES (274637). All ways are secure and anonymous.

If your tip leads to an arrest you may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,000 and Crime Stoppers will never ask your name.
