Crimes Stoppers and Wichita Police have doubled the reward for information that leads to the arrest of suspects involved in a drive-by shooting outside of a 2009 wake in South Wichita. T

he shooting drew national attention after two were killed, and fifteen others were injured by gunfire in the 2900 block of east Dunham near 31st Street S. & K-15. Police say family and friends had gathered on Saturday, January 29th 2009, for the wake of 47-year-old Somphit “Sophie” Makthepharak.

Around 9:30 p.m. that evening witnesses say two vehicles driving slowly on Dunham. the description of the first vehicle varies, but the second was described as a light-colored four door vehicle.

Witnesses heard multiple gunshots from multiple guns, firing a the home. 66-year-old Keo Intavong and 22-year-old Jeffrey Chitanavong were struck by bullets and died from their injuries.

Fifteen people inside the garage of the home were either struck directly by bullets or hit by ricochets and suffered critical to minor injuries.
