Butler County Sheriff and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives announce a joint reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft of explosives from Martin-Marietta Aggragates, 7160 SW Diamond Rd, Augusta, Kan. sometime between September 19th and 22nd.

In addition, Augusta Crimestoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the theft.

Investigators from the Butler County Sheriff's Officer, ATF, and the Kansas State Fire Marshal Office have determined that commercially manufactured high explosives were stolen. The agencies continue to follow-up on leads as the investigation continues.

Butler County Sheriff Craig Murphy reminds the public that should they come across items that they feel may be these explosives or containers of these explosives - use "extreme caution" and contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
