Brandi Flint lives and worked at the Auto Inn Motel near 13th and Broadway in Wichita. On July 21st, 2007, she started to work on cleaning up some rooms, but realized she couldn't find her room keys.
"Said that she did not have her keys and was locked out of her room and needed a master set of keys," explains Wichita Police Detective Wendy Hummel. "The front desk clerk gave her the keys and said she needed to bring them right back."
Detective Hummel says that was at about 5:00 a-m. When Flint didn't return in an hour, the desk clerk went to find her.
"The last time someone saw her alive was about 5am," Hummel says. "About an hour later was when she was found, so we have a pretty good time frame of 5:00-6:00 in the morning when this occurred."
A problem that police have run into is that the area is very transient. Hummel says there were a lot of people around the area when the murder happened, but nobody seems to know anything.
"We have nothing," Hummel says. "That's why we need help. A lot of people keep to themselves and say they didn't see anything. We don't have any information, no suspect information."
All of the people that were in the nearby rooms were questioned and ruled out. The same goes for Flint's family. She had recently been divorced, but her ex-husband had a solid alibi.
"Anybody that was in that area or may have talked to anybody that may have seen or heard something on July 21st about 5-6 in the morning. This girl had been living there for quite a while," Hummel explains. "I think a lot of people knew who she was."
Brandi Flint was 48 years-old when she was killed. She also sometimes used the name Randi. She left behind three grown children.
