A woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a wallet out of a desk in a Wichita elementary school classroom. Police said she may be connected to other thefts from schools.
Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte said the 30-year-old woman entered Enterprise Elementary in the 3600 block of South Gold Street, went into a classroom and stole a wallet out of a purse that was sitting in a teacher’s desk.
One teacher noticed the woman in the classroom and asked her to stop, but she continued out of school and through the parking lot with the teacher attempting to stop her. Another school employee was able to stop the woman, who was detained in the school’s office until police arrived.
Police believe she may be connected to similar thefts from three other schools in recent months, including Anderson Elementary and Spaght Elementary.
Detectives continue to investigate. The woman's name hasn't been released.
