A Wichita woman is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of child abuse, accused of hitting a young boy with a stick.
Investigators say the five year-old boy went to a staff member at his school, Park Hill Elementary in Derby, complaining that his bottom was hurting.
The Exploited and Missing Child Unit was called to investigate and discovered the boy had abusive injuries.
"there were injuries across the bottom of the child and the legs of the child, significant enough that we placed the child in police protective custody." According to Lt. Jeff Weible.
Police arrested the boy's 28 year-old guardian who is a friend of the family. The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released into police protective custody.
