A Sedgwick County Judge sentenced a Wichita man today to more than 15 years in prison for his role in an accident that killed a 5-year-old girl.
Judge Wilbert sentenced 30-year-old Ronald Bevan to 186 months in prison following a guilty verdict in January for the charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated battery. He had been charged with the more serious offense of second degree murder.
Amber Randolph died after a multi-vehicle accident on Kellogg in February, 2011. Investigators said Matthew Noel was driving a truck that jumped the median and struck a car Randolph was riding in. Authorities argue Noel was racing Bevan down Kellogg.
Noel's case ended in a mistrial, and a new trial has yet to be scheduled.
