Wichita Boy Accused Of Shooting At Cats & Dogs

July 16, 2012

An 11-year-old Wichita boy has been arrested and accused of cruelty to animals, after officers said he shot at cats & dogs in a south side neighborhood.

Officers were called to the 2300 block of South Volutsia after 8:00 p.m. Sunday. A neighbor reported two boys shooting a BB gun at animals. A neighbor reported the boys threatened to shoot her house.

Officers saw two young boys go into a house on Green Street. Officers found the two boys and a BB gun. The 11-year-old was arrested for making a criminal threat and cruelty to animals. A 9-year-old boy was not arrested because, under state law, children under the age of 10 can't be arrested or charged with a crime.

Police don't know if any animals were injured.
