Two Consecutive Life Sentences In 2002 Topeka Deaths

Monday, August 20, 2012

An Oklahoma woman will spend the rest of her life in prison for the 2002 deaths of her ex-husband and his fiancee in Topeka.

Dana Chandler, of Duncan, Okla., was sentenced on Monday to two consecutive life sentences for the deaths of 47-year-old Mike Sisco and 53-year-old Karen Harkness. They were shot while sleeping at their home in Topeka.

Chandler was convicted in March of two counts of premeditated murder. Prosecutors say Chandler committed the crimes after Sisco told her he planned to marry Harkness.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports Chandler acted as her own attorney at the hearing Monday. Parrish denied her request for a new trial or acquittal.
