A Topeka man charged in his wife's death will remain in jail on $1 million bond.
A Shawnee County District Court judge on Monday declined to lower bond for 32-year-old Manuel Campos Alcala. He's charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in the death last week of Ashley M. Alcala.
She died after being found severely injured in her home. Police have not said how she was killed.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports police say two other men are being detained in El Paso, Texas, for questioning in the slaying.
The judge appointed a public defender for Alcala, who said he had no assets.
