Three Inmates Charged After April Escape

Friday, July 13, 2012

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt today filed criminal charges against three inmates who escaped in April of this year from the Kansas Department of Corrections while they were placed at the Ottawa County Jail.

The Attorney General filed charges of aggravated escape from custody and battery on a law enforcement officer against Santos M. Carrera-Morales, 22; Drew Edward Wade, 23; and Alberto Jon Barraza-Lujan, 23.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Assistant Attorney General Steve Karrer from Schmidt's office is prosecuting the cases.
