A Salina business owner has been charged with selling potpourri as a synthetic marijuana substitute.

Charges were filed in the U.S. District Court of Wichita Wednesday against 43-year-old Eric Srack, owner of The Grind. He faces one count of introducing misbranded drugs into interstate commerce.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Srack was selling a product known as Aromatic Potpourri that contains a substance that mimics marijuana. They say he mixed synthetic material with potpourri and Everclear into a product that was intended to be smoked in order to achieve a high similar to that of marijuana.

If convicted, Srack could face a maximum penalty of three years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000.
