Trial Date Set In Death Of 69-Year-Old Augusta Woman

Lyndsey Giovinazzo was arraigned today on charges of premeditated first degree murder, arson, and theft in the death of 69-year-old Loyce Cody.

Prosecutors say Cody was strangled in her home, and then Giovinazzo and co-defendant Jacob Hoyt stole Cody’s car and credit card. Prosecutors say Hoyt is Cody’s grandson.

Giovinazzo's jury trial date is set for July 24 at 9:00 a.m. in Butler County District Court.

One of two people accused in the death of an Augusta grandmother faced a judge today.

Lyndsey Giovinazzo is charged with premeditated first degree murder, arson, and theft in the death of 69-year-old Loyce Cody.

Prosecutors say Cody was strangled in her home, and then Giovinazzo and co-defendant Jacob Hoyt stole Cody’s car and credit card. Prosecutors say Hoyt is Cody’s grandson.

Giovinazzo’s pretrial hearing was today. Her arraignment has been set for Wednesday, May 2 at 2:30 p.m.
