Police Discuss Allegations Against Former Officer

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Police continue to investigate allegations made against a former officer-turned school security supervisor.

During a briefing Tuesday morning, police discussed allegations made against 50-year-old Alex Robinson, a USD 259 security supervisor and former Wichita Police Department Sergeant.

Robinson was arrested after a 24-year-old man came forward, alleging sex crimes that happened 10 to 12 years ago when he was a juvenile. Robinson was booked on suspicion of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and criminal sodomy over the weekend.

Crimes of this nature typically carry a 5-year statute of limitations, but Captain Brent Allred said certain qualifiers could be met allowing charges to be filed in this case, several years after the statute expired.

Robinson has also been placed on administrative leave by the school district..

Robinson was a 22-year veteran of the Wichita Police Department. He retired in 2006 at the rank of Sergeant to begin working for USD 259.

He was being held on a $250,000 bond, but has since bonded out. Police are expected to turn the case over to the district attorney's office by the end of this week.
