A Wichita police sergeant suffered minor injuries when his car was struck by a suspected drunk driver.
The sergeant was on traffic control shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, and had just parked his car the 800 block of East 1st in Old Town. As he was getting out, another car crashed into the passenger's side of his patrol car. The officer was thrown to the ground and hit his head on the concrete.
Another officer took the sergeant to an area hospital for treatment, and he has since been treated and released.
Other officers arrested the 21-year-old driver from New Mexico for DUI, driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and an expired tag.
