Authorities in northeast Kansas are searching for an escaped inmate.

They say that 29-year-old Raheem K. Armstead walked away from the jail in Leavenworth County Saturday afternoon.

A police advisory says Armstead has a history of fighting with and eluding police.

He was convicted in 2008 of robbery and aggravated burglary.

Armstead is described as a black male, 6-foot-3 and slim build. He also has tattoos on his chest, back and the right side of his neck.

Armstead was last seen wearing a green and white striped jail uniform and tennis shoes.

Anyone with any information on Armsteads whereabouts is asked to contact the Leavenworth County Sheriff's office at 913-682-5724.
