There is new information about the arrest of a Sedgwick County Jail employee.

Sheriff Jeff Easter tells KAKE News that Detention Deputy James Conklin made his first appearance in court Thursday on a charge of lewd fondling.

Easter says a male inmate reported that he had been fondled by Conklin. The sheriff said the incident happened recently and was immediately investigated by the department.

Easter plans to hold a press conference Wednesday about the incident. He tells KAKE News that Conklin, who is a 19 year veteran of the sheriff's department, has been suspended without pay.
