Missing Work Release Inmate Back In Custody

The search is over for a work release inmate in Reno County who went missing late Tuesday morning.

Around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, 36-year-old Juan Marquez, Jr. was reported missing when he could not be found by his employer, Collins Bus Corporation in South Hutchinson.

The Hutchinson Correctional Facility was notified and a search began. A response team was dispatched to Collins, where Marquez was located at 1:30 p.m. hiding in one of the bathrooms of the business.

Marquez was taken back to the prison and was placed in the Administrative Segregation Unit pending an investigation.

According to the Hutchinson Correctional Facility, Marquez was a minimum custody inmate and had been in the work release program since the end of June. He is serving time for numerous charges of burglary, theft, aggravated battery and criminal possession of a firearm in Reno and Sedgwick Counties.
