A man has been arrested for leading police on a chase, with five kids in his car.
At about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, police saw an SUV speeding down 2nd street and turned around to try to stop it. The driver refused to pull over and sped up, running several stop signs.
He finally pulled over in the parking lot of a Dollar General store in the 1100 block of West Douglas. After he was taken into custody, police heard crying and screaming coming from the car. Inside, they found five kids ranging in age from 3 to 10, who were not in car seats or seat belts.
The 35-year-old driver was arrested for various multiple traffic charges, two outstanding warrants and drug charges, after cocaine was also found in the car.
Family members picked up the children.
