Man Headed To Trial In Death Of Wichita Woman

A Wichita man will stand trial in the death of woman whose body was found in a ditch last month.

Wednesday, 41-year-old Anson R. Bernhardt was in court for a preliminary hearing in the murder case of 38-year-old Amber L. Kostner.

A passing motorist in the 2100 block of West 55th Street South called 911 on the morning of September 30th after seeing a body in a ditch not far from Campus High School. Investigators were able to quickly identify her as Kostner, and found blunt force trauma to various part of her body. Bernhardt was arrested later that evening

Authorities said Kostner and Bernhardt were romantically involved and had been living together since late spring.

Bernhardt was bound over on the count of first degree premeditated murder. His trial has been scheduled for January 7th.
