A woman who worked for the Wyandotte County Detention Center has been charged with leaving her child inside a car that was parked outside of the jail.
Prosecutors charged Randi L. Rushmeyer, 24, with misdemeanor child endangerment.
KMBC reports the charges stem from an incident in July where Rushmeyer's daughter was found in a running car in the parking garage near the jail. The girl had been in the car for 15 minutes when a deputy discovered her.
Rushmeyer allegedly told investigators that she arranged with a jail co-worker to take the child.
The child was placed in protective custody. It is unknown whether she was returned to Rushmeyer.
