Monday, October 15, 2012

A judge says a 29-year-old martial arts instructor strangled or suffocated a University of New Hampshire student who was last seen nearly a week ago.

The judge made the comments Monday while reading the charge during the video arraignment of Seth Mazzaglia, of Dover.

Mazzaglia was ordered held without bail on a second degree murder charge in connection with the death of 19-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, of Westborough, Mass.

Officials expect to decide Monday the next step in the search for Marriott's body.

Marriott was last heard from Tuesday. Her car was found at UNH.

Marriott's family says she met Mazzaglia last summer when both were working at a Target store.

Police declined to say what led to Mazzaglia's arrest.

The next hearing in the case is set for Oct. 29.
