A Jeep that was found partially submerged in the Arkansas River Friday afternoon turned out to be the vehicle stolen from a good Samaritan late Wednesday night.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, a 23-year-old man saw what appeared to be a car stuck in the snow near 23rd and Arkansas in north Wichita.

When he stopped to help, one woman jumped into his Jeep and hit the man as she was driving away. A second woman jumped back into their car, which was not stalled or stuck, and drove away.

That Jeep was found partially submerged around 4 p.m. in the Arkansas River near 19th Street and Arkansas in north Wichita. Authorities said no one was in the vehicle and that it had been there for a couple of days.

No arrests have been made.

A good Samaritan who attempted to help two "stranded" women ended up being hit by his own car as it was being stolen.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, a 23-year-old man saw what appeared to be a car stuck in the snow near 23rd and Arkansas in north Wichita.

When he stopped, two women told him they were having car trouble and he got out to help.

As he was examining the car, one of the women jumped into his SUV. She hit the man as she was driving away, and he sustained minor injuries.

The other woman jumped back into their car, which was not stalled or stuck, and drove away.

The man has since been treated for his injuries, which were not considered serious.

Police are looking for a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo, unknown year, with a Dallas Cowboys sticker in the back window.

The victim's vehicle is a white 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an Oklahoma tag.
