Criminal charges, including attempted murder, were filed against two people in connection with a chase that ended with the wounding of a Sedgwick County deputy.

Charges against Jason Perez and Clara Crosser, of Gardner, Kansas, were read in Sedgwick County District Court.

Perez and Crosser are charged with attempted first degree murder for firing at a Sedgwick County Deputy and a Butler County Deputy. They also face charges including attempted theft and drug offenses. Perez also faces weapons charges.

They were arrested after a chase that started in Northern Sedgwick County and ended in Butler County. A Sedgwick County deputy was shot and wounded after the suspects' car was stopped. Court documents identify the deputy as Lucas Powell. Deputy Powell has been released from a Wichita hospital.
