Since late September, burglars have hit more than 30 businesses in Salina, getting away with thousands of dollars in cash and merchandise. Salina Police are increasing the Crime Stoppers reward in hopes of catching the crooks.
A dentist office was most recently hit this week on Elmhurst Street. The thieves got in by breaking a back window. Once inside, they found the safe and were able to cut through it and get inside.
"We've had 31 burglaries and seven attempts," explained Lt. Scott Siemsen.
Salina Police have been working to catch the burglars and are hoping that a cash reward of $1,000 will do the trick.
"We have a lot of business owners concerned," Siemsen said. "The ones that have been hit and also ones that haven't. There is talk amongst them to see what they can do to stop this string of burglaries."
All of the recent burglaries have taken place at similar-type businesses. Places like doctor offices, dentist offices, chiropractors and insurance agents.
