Two men charged in the death of a 34-year-old Topeka woman refused to waive extradition from Texas.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that 19-year-old Gabino Campos Alcala and 19-year-old Benjamin Anaya have both refused to waive extradition from El Paso, where they are being held. They are both charged with first-degree premeditated murder in the death of Ashley Alcala, who died after being found severely injured in her home Oct. 18.
The victim's husband, Manuel Campos Alcala, and her mother-in-law, 57-year-old Manuela Alcala, are also charged with first-degree premeditated murder in Ashley Alcala's death. They are being held in Topeka on $1 million bond.
A Texas judge will decide if enough evidence exists to send the two men to Kansas to face the charges. The process could take a month.
